Characteristics: Tecoma ‘Red Hot’ is an evergreen shrub which is a hybrid of several members of the Tecoma genus. Red Hot Tecoma is different from other members of the genus as it only reaches a maximum of four feet wide and four feet tall, whereas other members can grow 12 or 13 feet tall. This shrub has a loaf-shaped growth habit. The leaves are medium green, with toothed margins and the flowers are trumpet-shaped and range in color from vivid red to intense reddish-orange. The blossoms last for a long time, and attract many different types of pollinators, especially hummingbirds. The plant prefers full sun, and is only tolerant of temperatures above 15°F.
