Characteristics: The slender, dark green leaves of Liriope muscari grow  up to one and a half feet tall before they begin to droop towards the ground (2). Mature plants form a small bush-like appearance, and when planted close together form a continuous turf that makes excellent ground cover. By late Summer, lavender stalks of purple flowers spike up out of the center of the plant (1,2)

Cultivation Notes: Liriope muscari establishes quickly in moist, fertile soil and partial
sun, but can tolerate many different soil and sun environments (1,2,4)
as long as the soil does not stay dry for an extended period (2). This
species is drought tolerant once it is established (2,3,4).
Ethnobotany: The root can be cooked and is used medicinally as an anti-inflammatory, antiallergenic, aphrodisiac, pectoral and stimulant (3).
