Characteristics: The Chilean paloverde has green bark and produces root suckers that are very difficult to irradicate, making this an invasive species. The leaves alternate along the branches, and during the flowering season, it has bright yellow blooms.

Natural History: G. decorticans is located approximately between 20°S to 30°S in South America. This species has been distributed to Asia, Africa, South America and North America (2). It is known to spread once established.
Cultivation Notes: This species has root suckers, making it very invasive. It is not recommended to plant the Chilean paloverde in a landscape setting, because it could put the other plants at risk. It is typically hardy at around 15℉ and grows best in full sun.
Ethnobotany: The G. decorticans is invasive in landscapes and is not recommended.
